While plurking, I've read many plurks about not knowing how to use plurk. Even if they've successfully registered, they have no idea what to do next and how plurk works. This post hopes to answer those questions. I'll show you its parts and how they are used.^^
I've divided the plurk parts into 3 general parts—the body (1), the timeline (2) and the dashboard (3). Let's discuss the body first.
Plurk Body Parts
My Profile edit—You can see this at the leftmost upper part of your plurk page. When you click this, the dialog box below appears. You can then edit your general profile information, picture, page appearance and widget.
My Friends—It's also at the upper left corner of your plurk page, right beside My Profile edit. When you click that, you will see the dialog box below. You can use it to see and edit friends , make cliques, block users, see the plurkers you follow and your fans.
Alerts—Also at the upper left corner of your plurk page is Alerts. It tells/alerts you if there are plurkers inviting you to be their friends, if you have new fans, and/or if plurk sends you a message like the time you needed to validate your email address when you registered. You will see a number enclosed in a parenthesis beside the word 'alerts'. That number represents how many alerts you received.
My Account—At the upper right hand corner of your plurk page is My Account, which is beside the Sign Out option. When you click this, the dialog box below opens and you can already edit your account info, your privacy settings, instant messaging options, mobile options and share your plurks to other social networks.
Interesting Plurkers--Beside 'My Account' is 'Interesting Plurkers'. Clicking this shows you a window where all plurks are being displayed on the same timeline. There are also featured/interesting plurkers you can invite to be your friends.
Copyright. Etc.--Now that we're through discussing the uppermost parts of the body, let's move on to the bottom part where you can see at the right bottom corner, links about FAQS, Start Guide, Contact, Privacy, Jobs, Terms, etc. Click on any of these if you're interested to know about any of them.
Language--At the opposite side, at the bottom left part, just below the dashboard is the language settings. You can choose the language you want to use for your plurk.
Verb Chooser—I actually don't know how to call it, so I gave it the name 'verb chooser' for the simple reason that it shows a variety of verbs you can use to start expressing your thoughts, feelings and actions. You can find this just right after your username in the body.
Plurk Box—This is right after the 'verb chooser'. You can write your messages/plurks here. You can write up to 140 characters long.
Emoticons—Right after the plurk box is your emoticon chooser. As you go higher the karma ladder, the more emoticons will be available to you. After writing your message and picking your emoticon (optional), click the PLURK button.
Lock Icon—There's a small lock icon on a yellow backround located just below your username. If you don't want your plurks to be available for everyone to see, click that to change the settings.
Dashboard Parts
About Me—There you can see your uploaded picture/avatar. You can also read the information you put in the profile settings tab there. If you want to edit your info, click My Profile edit and change whatever it is you want.
Stats—This shows how active you are in plurking. The more you plurk and the more plurk friends you have, the higher your karma. When you've already reached 25 karma points, you already have an option to customize your plurk page and even hide the karma points if you like. Below the Karma points, you'll see the number of times your profile has been viewed, the number of friends you were able to invite, the number of plurks and responded plurks you have, since when you were a member and your last login date.
Friends—This shows the number of plurk friends you have.
Fans—This shows the number of fans you have.
Share your Plurk page—This is the url you can give your friends to invite them to plurk. When they sign up using this url, they will automatically be your followers.
Plurk Widget—You can place this on your blogs or sites to show other people what you're doing.
Timeline Parts
Timeline Holder—This is where your plurks and other people's plurks (your friends' and those you follow) appear.
Timeline Bars—You have a vertical and horizontal timeline bars. The horizontal timeline bar is where the time and date are located. It tells you what time a certain plurk was posted. When you already have enough karma points to customize the timeline bars, you can edit their appearance and even hide the vertical timeline bar.
Plurk Buttons—Below the horizontal timeline bar are 4 buttons—All Plurks, My Plurks, Private and Responded. Choose any of these buttons to show what plurks you want to appear on the timeline.
Search Box—Above the horizontal timeline bar, at the right, you will see a searchbox. You can use this to find your friends on plurk.
Updater—At the left bottom corner of the timeline, you will see the Updater. If there are new plurks you haven't seen yet, you can use the updater to show them.
Plurks—Here, you can see the picture/avatar of the plurker, his/her name, the verb chooser, a plurk response box and the number of plurk responses that plurk has.
