How to install applications on your BlackBerry using the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront

If you follow the Inside BlackBerry® Help blog, you may have seen my previous posts that show you how to install applications using BlackBerry App World™ on your BlackBerry® smartphone, installing applications using BlackBerry App World QR codes and what occurs to your BlackBerry App World applications when you switch BlackBerry smartphones. Today I’ll be continuing my series of posts on BlackBerry App World by talking about one of my favorite features, the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront.
Why do I love the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront? Simply put, it allows me to do everything I can do using the BlackBerry App World application on my BlackBerry smartphone, but on my desktop computer. I can also send my friends links to the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront to show them an application, even if they don’t own a BlackBerry smartphone!
Want to learn more about what the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront can do for you?

In order to install applications from the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront, you must have a BlackBerry ID. If you don’t have a BlackBerry ID yet, you can register for one by clicking the Register link along the top of the BlackBerry App World website, or by using the BlackBerry App World application on your BlackBerry smartphone. If you don’t register for a BlackBerry ID, you can still browse the BlackBerry App World catalog to see applications you might be interested in using in the future.
For example, let’s download a free application from the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront. After logging in with your BlackBerry ID and reviewing the application details, installing it is as simple as clicking Download Now, connecting your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer via USB cable, and clicking Begin Sync to install the application.
In addition to being able to quickly select an application and install it, if you have logged in using your BlackBerry ID, you also have the following options available to you while using the BlackBerry App World desktop storefront.

• My World – After clicking this link, you will be able to see any applications you previously downloaded to your BlackBerry smartphone. If you have your BlackBerry smartphone connected via USB cable at this point, you will also have the option to load any of these applications. One of my favorite features is the ability to load multiple applications at once. This is very handy if you have performed a clean reload on your BlackBerry device software recently!
• BlackBerry ID – Accessing this option will allow you to manage your BlackBerry ID account details such as your password and email address.
• My Payment Options – Selecting this option will allow you to manage your Payment Methods within BlackBerry App World. You can manage credit cards, carrier billing (this will depend on your carrier) or your PayPal® account.
